scrazy agony auntOh yeah, condoms and sex toys will definitely hope!

While you're at it, you should get him a subscription to Penthouse or Playboy - He will LOVE you for that one!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (9 March 2008):

Condoms and educational books are all useful items, but it might be embarrassing to your sone if you give him these things directly. The best you thing you can do is buy them and put them in places where he is certain to 'accidentally' find them for himself. Or if there is a family member closer in age to your son (like a cousin around 18-30 for example) have that person give them to him.

Leanna agony auntNo parent in their right mind would but a 13 year old child those things.

Anyway this is the boy who posted the other day saying he wanted his parents to buy him a butt plug and condoms.

You won't be able to get porn mags or sex toys because you are underage. Condoms however, you can pick up yoursef from pharmacies or supermarkets.

A male reader, q1605 United States +, writes (11 February 2008):

q1605 agony aunt Forget you saw it. Don't act different towards him. And never mention it again. What if he walked in on you and your husband having sex. What if you were wondering if and when he might want to speak with you about it. No long drawn out conversation. Maybe something in passing. Maybe just to suggest a better brand of lubricant or position you may not be aware of. Of course you would welcome it because you know that he would go online and share this encounter with the world to make sure he handles things correctly and doen't intrude more than already has.

A female reader, hlskitten United Kingdom + , writes (11 February 2008):

hlskitten agony auntHi

Grot mags maybe, but condoms no. My son is 12 and if i thought he wanted them, i would buy porn mags for him. I dont feel yet he is that interested though.

I would have a chat with him and stress that IF he is getting into sex with girls, then to talk to you. Or to go to the local family planning clinic where they hand out condoms free.

Yes boys as young as that do have sex. My brother was only 14 when he fathered a daughter. And my mother was buying him and his girlfriend condoms, they unfortunately just thought not to use them!

I expect this is the child asking though, which is fine. You dont need condoms for masturbating.

Salad_Barbarian agony auntI think the book would be ok but nothing beyond that. I don't understand why he would need condoms for masturbation.

Also are you using his account to ask this because according to the information about you, you are a 13-15 year old male!

A female reader, happytochat Australia + , writes (11 February 2008):

Id talk to him about sexual related things such as safe sex and so on, but I duno about buying him toys and condoms and stuff. Id just tell him that when he is thinking about having sex he cane come to you with any questions and/or for condoms. That way he knows the door is open.

A female reader, phiatiger United Kingdom +, writes (11 February 2008):

His behaviour is completely normal - sex toys and lube are an absolute no go, firstly that would just be too wierd and secondly, you may actually encourage him to go and have sex. Im sure that he knows about safe sex and condoms but it may be worth getting some condoms in the house, just incase he asks for your guidance.

A female reader, Zoggi United Kingdom +, writes (11 February 2008):

Buy him sex toys and lube?!? Are you serious?!? No way, he'd just be really embarrassed! What he is doing is perfectly normal, and it doesn't mean he's going to start having sex with girls, so you don't have to worry about that either.

A male reader, bazookabob United Kingdom +, writes (11 February 2008):

bazookabob agony auntWhat!? are you kidding right? You don't have to buy him anything, just because he's masturbating doesn't mean he's going to go out and start screwing anyone he can find! Leave him to it, its a perfectly natural thing to do, and if you really have to do something, just give him "the talk"!

Sex toys? Gosh no! I'm female but I can just imagine how absolutely mortified my boyfriend or brothers would have been if our respective mothers had delivered sex toys to their room!

I think condoms will be enough, maybe a book on safe sex/STDS.
