Can I take the morning pill again after a few weeks and could I be pregnant?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I've just started to get intimate with my boyfriend, we haven't had sex yet but we have done oral and foreplay.

2 days ago, after I performed foreplay on him, he came, quite alot. I got it on my hand and he got it on his. I was fully clothed at the time but I get really paranoid to these sorts of situations and I'm worried if there was any chance of his sperm getting to my vagina?

A few weeks ago this happened, he didn't cum as much but fingered me after, so I took the morning after pill a few days after just to be extra safe.

As I am paranoid, I'm really worrying about if there's a chance I could be pregnant and if I should take the morning after pill again. It's already been 48 hours and I think today is the last day I could take it with it actually being effective. What should I do?

All help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks x

k_c100 agony auntIf you were fully clothed the first time then no, there is no way that any sperm could get to your vagina. Sperm have a hard enough time reaching the egg when you are having sex, never mind having to somehow swim their way through fabric too!

As for when you boyfriend fingered you with his cum on his hands, then yes you could be pregnant. Did you take the morning after pill within 72 hours of the incident? If you did, then you dont need to worry and there is a good chance it will have worked and you wont be pregnant.

Please dont take another morning after pill, if you have already taken 1 then there is no point in taking another! One morning after pill within 72 hours will be effective and a second one later than 7 hours will do nothing at all!

You definitely need to start taking precautions instead of taking risks like this - go to see your doctor ASAP and ask to be put onto some form of birth control. There are plenty of different types so there will be one to suit you.

You also need to start using condoms - that way all the sperm is contained so no more worries like this one, and most importantly you stop any chances of getting STD's. You can get free condoms from the doctor or buy them in any supermarkets, chemists and places like Boots.

Take control of your birth control and then you wont have to worry so often! If you are a paranoid sort of person then you really should take control of the situation and be mature enough to be safe when you are becoming sexually active.

I hope this helps and good luck!

There is always a chance of you getting pregnant if he has sperm on his hands and he then fingers you. If you are worried, take the pill again. Then go to the doctor and get yourself on the contraceptive pill as well.

The morning after pill is not a form of regular contraception. It is really not healthy for you to take it on a regular basis. If you are going to be sexually active then you need to sort out some contraception and not just leave it until afterwards. Incidentally, the efficacy of the morning-after pill is reduced the longer you leave it before taking it. Start taking the normal pill and then you won't have to worry about this situations. It's stupid and unnecessary. Take matters into your own hands and get properly prepared. As it is, I don't think you are pregnant but I don't know for sure, these things can happen.
