 If he says he doesn't know then it means he is not that into you so it is not a good start to a relationship. Men rarely need to be asked twice for a date when they like a girl. The fact that he smokes and you don't like that is a secondary problem. Don't tell him to forget about your invite...just don't ask him again if this is going to be a problem. Find a non-smoker who treats you like a queen and jumps at the chance of a date with you!

I think it depends what this boy is like. Is he likely to carry on smoking? If he smokes around you it could put you in danger, was he just trying a ciggarette? Is he likely to give up for you?
It's fine to go out with him as long as he doesn't smoke around you or try and get you to smoke too, it's disgusting and stupid.
