Are you really sure about having a tattoo? Tattoos are for life and once you get one you can't get rid of it easily and painlessly. You might end up regretting it when you are older, especially when you start getting wrinkles. But if you are certain and have thought through everything (pros and cons) then go for it. I've heard of how much they do hurt but personally i wouldn't know whether they do or not as i don't have any myself.

i got a tattoo on my lower back when i was 17 last year and i was so scared i changed my mind when i sat in the chair. but i went ahead with it and i was shocked at how much it didnt hurt, everyone told me it was the worst place to get a tattoo but i didnt think it hurt at all. felt more like someone scratching me lightly. my bf has two tattoos, one on his back and one on his upper arm and he said the arm hurt more because of all the muscle and fatty skin on it, whereas the back is just boney. hope this helped xx

Hey, I have two tattoo's. One on my shoulder blade, one on my lower back.

The one on my shoulder blade didn't hurt as much as the one on my lower back, but then again there is much more to the one on my lower back. The one on my lower back is a tribal butterfly, and the tribal part of it is pretty thick... it also took 2 hours..

So it will hurt a little bit either way, and if it hurts more will depend on body composition, and how big it is...

The bigger it is, the more time it will take, so it will probably hurt more... Yes it hurts, but it's not going to kill you, ya know? Don't worry about it, the pain is only temporary, and if it's something you really want, then you will be so pleased with yourself in the end. Like I said, I have 2 (and my tounge pierced)... and I'm also terrified of pain and needles. You can do it!!! :)

jessekk69 agony aunti have got one on the bottom of my back, had it done when i was 13 and it didnt hurt one bit. to tell the truth i almost fell asleep. They use two different needles (whuch are really little, you can hardle seem them)One to do the outter line with which hurts abit more than the other needle. The second one is todo the colouring in with, It feels more scratching than painful. A minute into it and your body will numb itself which will help you relax better.

p.s The lower back is the less painful place to have your first. I now have 4 and my first one (lower back) was the best experience of them all!!

hope this helps!

Good luck. xx
