Conception date.

Are online conception date calendars accurate? I want to be sure. Can anyone help pls. I had a dating scan and a due date of 26th Sept 2013. With this info i got a conception date of somewhere between 31 Dec - 2nd Jan 2013. Would this be accurate? I am concerned because i had a period (or what i thought was) around 5-7 Jan 2013 and sex with someone else on the 16th. I used a condom but am concerned if he took it off possibly???

R1 agony auntthey should be fairly accurate to the nearest week. nothing is 100% but it gives you a good idea. I take it there are two potential daddies here? if it is that close between them you might be looking at a dna test when baby is born.

So_Very_Confused agony auntdon’t know if they are accurate but I can tell you that when my younger son was born that all scans and measurements were off and had I allowed the doctors to do a section based on size he would have been more premature than he was. (as it was he was 8 ½ pounds at birth and still had to go to the NICU for special care)

AT 13 weeks they swore I was 17 weeks along based on size and scans… The only way we knew WHEN I conceived was that I was temperature charting and knew when my temp had spiked and I had conceived. I was correct. And thankfully they listened to me and did not take him early.

I can also tell you that my friend who just had a baby a year ago did not know she was pregnant till she was 4 months along as she was still getting periods. So that’s not always accurate either.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (22 March 2013):

It's not always 2 weeks after a period you can get a pregnant though some woman do as this is when a large percentage of woman ovulate (day 16-17 of your cycle)

But that bleeding you say about on 5-7 Jan could of been the egg embedding on your womb lining, which is very common. And if it is the case then the dates would work out right... conceived 31st Dec - 2nd Jan Then Bleeding on 5th-7th Jan.. And the fact you said about using a condom with the other guy my guess is you was already pregnant.

Go to the doctors or midwife though to be 100% certain dont trust the calenders online... Hope this helped.. X

A female reader, Honeypie United States + , writes (22 March 2013):

Honeypie agony auntIf you want to know the conception date, take 2 weeks off the scan date and count back.

Google "pregnancy calendar" online and type in your due date and it will calculate back to find your approximate conception date. (which will be two weeks after your approximate last menstrual period date).

They are not 100% accurate though, so I would definitely talk to your OB/GYN about the correct date, specially if there is doubt of paternity in your mind.

Also the bleeding you had around 5-7 Jan 2013 could be from implantation.
