I agree with the others that it is about exercise and eating right. I wanted to suggest a website because my husband and I started using a video recently and the results have been incredible so far. www.beachbody.com - look at the Power 90 videos. It is not free and I would not generally make a suggestion like this, but I have even started letting people at my work borrow it because I can see how effective it is. I have done other videos before, but this is the first one I really noticed immediate results with.

Good luck and no matter what you decide to do, it all really does comes down to exercising and eating healthy.

A female reader, PoSiOnKiSS United Kingdom +, writes (26 February 2007):

PoSiOnKiSS agony auntI have a huge problem with exercise because im asthmatic and i struggle which auntomatically makes me want to give up, well i found a perfect routine that lost me 2 stone in 2 and a half months. Everytime i watched tv i would march on the spot instead of sit down, or do some sit up. Every morning as soon as id wake up id do 30 press ups and sit ups. Each day it got so much easier. As for dieting, i didnt eat anything that was over 5g of fat, and believe me it was amazing with how much you can eat with so little fat in! Id stop eating after 8 but if i did get pekish id eat a celery stick which has no fat, and if you wanted stick some philedelphia on it. I went on the boots diet for my dinner, choosing a pasta dish, some crisps and a drink of water, and then id get myself some fruit instead of a cake as i always love to have that little bit more after a meal. I dont like running in public either so i ran on the canal and its really pleasant when no one can see you and your mind can wander off. But one thing you have to do is stick to it! A diet takes time to get in place, i always say a diet is like a kettle, you dont just switch it on and its boilin for you, you gotta wait for it to warm up! Hope this helps, if you need any extra help let me know x

I started by doing 30-40 min of cardio every day. After a week it became very easy so I started doing weight training after my cardio workout right now I do about 30 min. I was told the key is to get your heart rate up to a safe level depending on your age and weight, then after that the weight lifting is much more helpful.

As far as diet I started eating 5 small meals a day (this isn’t so easy) I try to keep my calorie intake around 1200. I started this routine about a month ago and I’ve lost 20lbs. the key is to not worry about other people around you, the main focus should be on your self and your health. Also I found I had to quit drinking, Good luck

A male reader, childof1981 United States +, writes (26 February 2007):

childof1981 agony auntLosing weight and getting fit takes exercise and dieting. Your first step is to start counting calories and get yourself eating about 4 or 5 hundred calories less than you need a day.

When you have adjusted your diet, you will need to begin exercise.

Lacking gym access I could recommend that you get a set of barbells (5-15) pound range, and a stair step (not a machine just the plain old lumps of plastic, feel free to improvise).

Try doing some stair stepping, and weight lifting for about 1/2 hour a day, 5 days a week. You should lose about .5 Kg a week, if you stick with this.

dragonette agony auntWhen it comes to knowing your food and the energy impact it has on you, I found this site to be helpful: http://www.fitday.com

It's for free, but you will need to register in order to use it. Everyday you write in how much training you did and how much you ate and it calculates how much energy you spent. It made me be aware of how certain things that seem rather innocent can be stuffed with energy, like pasta for example.

sexseahot agony auntYou can check out www.sparkpeople.com. It will give you exercises to do and also a diet menu for you to follow if you would like. You can also just add in what you ate and it will add up all the calories and whatnot for you.

Enjoy!
