I've been seeing my fella for a wee while now and I'm considering different types of birth control to go on. Just now we always use condoms, but he really doesn't like them and I think they do interupt our sex life but alway have to use them as I'm on no other form of birth control and it's got to be safty before pleasure unfortunately.

I would just like some advise on what people think are the best forms.

Pill? considering this but never been on it. How long do you have to be on it before not needing condoms anymore. Where can you go to get on this, just your GP or Family Planning Centre? And how bad are the side effects, like weight gain etc?

Diaphram? Does this hurt to get put in? is it more hassel than it worth?

Any suggestion or recommendations would be greatly welcomed. Thanks

Wendyg agony auntIf you do a google search for methods of contraception the list is endless! You can find what to know about each method and then search that individually too... Heres a link to start you off...

http://www.avert.org/faqcontra.htm Pretty informative if brief, but you can then search each one on google, or ask or however you use as a search engine and get whatever information you want. Try googling Contraceptive pill, or Coil, or Nuvaring. I cant really go into detail on here about all of them as i would be here a while! so your best bet is google. Your local family planning should also have leaflets as should your GP.

rk06 agony auntWith all-do-respect to the poster of the previous answer... do not do what she suggested. Coitus Interuptus, or "pulling out," has no contraceptive benefit. A man has pre-ejaculate that contains sperm. These sperm can find their way into your fallopian tube, where fertilization takes place, before the spermicide can be administered.

Talk with your doctor. He knows best. Until then... use a condom

NJmomabear agony auntOk, well I have been very sensitive to BC pills and can't use them so here is a combo I came up with. I dont use condoms or spermicide until he is close to ejaculating. I make him put on the rain coat before he does. Then I insert contraceptive foam afterward, since when you insert it before hand it can burn from friction and stinks and numb your mouth if you accidentally get a taste of it.

If he doesn't wear a condom at all he should definately pull out. Also, try different types of condoms. The ultra-thin ones are pretty good.
