I try to go to bed at a reasonable hour, but I just lie there unable to sleep, and when I do finally drop up I find myself waking up at 4 or 5 in the morning and I can't get back to sleep. Any ideas on how I can sleep through the entire night? Becuase its been about 2 weeks and I'm exhausted.... Reply to this Question |

Hi, If you don't have digestion problems with milk, a warm glass of milk before you get ready for bed may help. In addition a soothing bath, as warm as you can stand it, will drain your body of exhaustion and help you fall asleep. Just don't fall asleep in the tub.

Try a sleeping pill maybe..NOT to take forever, but just to help get you some rest for a nite or so...

I have alot of problems with my sleep too, and have tried so many things! Here are some suggestions my doctor gave me: - Try doing some light excercise before you go to bed) but not to heavy as that will wake you up more) - Don't watch Tv or use a computer for an hour before you go to bed. - If you can't get to sleep, get out of bed, if you lie in bed not sleeping you begin to get worked up, and there for find it harder to fall back to sleep again. - Lie in bed, get comfy, and count your breathing. Concentrate on breathing in with your nose and out with your mouth and count 1 as you breath in, and 2 as you breath out, and continue...(this is the one that works best for me) - Don't eat of drink anything for a couple of hours before you sleep, the less your body is working while you sleep, the more likely to sleep through.I'd suggest you go see your doctor for advice, they have loads of suggestions of how to help without having to use sleeping tablets. You might also like to try having a few counselling sessions to talk about whats on your mind that keeping you awake.
