As a longtime fan, I became curious: If I were a student at Hogwarts, to what house would the Sorting Hat send me? I found this personality test on the internet, and, just for fun, I decided to share it:

http://www.personalitylab.org/tests/ccq_hogwarts.htm

For those of you who haven't read the books, Hogwarts is the wizard school that Harry and his friends attend. All the students belong to one of four houses- Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw, into which they are sorted according to their personality traits.

The test not only matches you with a house, it also tells how similar you are to each house, percentage-wise.

I'm a Slytherin, according to the test (Gryffindor was a VERY close second). Slytherin has a sinister reputation in the stories, but I'm not evil! Ambition, cleverness, cunning and determination are all qualities associated with Slytherin, and very positive qualities. There's no reason to harbour prejudices because a few bad apples came out of Slytherin.

dr.2.be agony auntHey, don't worry, Im a Slytherin too. I think it mainly has to do with my determination and drive towards goals that I want to reach. I am the type of person who looks out for themself and never lets anyone get them down and in the way of thier goals. It doesn't mean I am evil, many people actually admire my hard work. I agree with you though, I really wish Slytherin house wasn't associated with people like Snape, Malfoy and anybody else that is considered evil in the series.

SirenaBlusera agony auntHi Samantha,

I didn't mean to take so long to get back but in answer to your question:

They're all holding magic wands.

It's not a stupid question :-) You haven't read the books or seen the movies.

All the magical characters have a wand, and they are all made of various types of wood: Holly, oak, maple, etc. Inside they have a magical substance in them... dragon's heart, unicorn fibers, phoenix feather, etc.

I know what you mean, the books tend to be better than the films. I prefer reading anyway, so I might give the books a try!

I have a Harry Potter question though. It's probably stupid, but I have to ask, it's been driving me crazy. Okay, I've seen a lot of posters up about a Harry Potter film lately. Anyway, there are what I imagine to be the good guys on the one side, and the baddies on the other. They are all holding something.

To me, it looks sort of like a...well, a screwdriver. I'm sure it's not though! My mom suggested they could be some sort of lights. Or magic wands?! (I'm getting desperate here!)

So Sirena, can you clear this up for me once and for all? Everytime I see a poster I am baffled as to what they are holding!

My ignorance is appalling, isn't it? Time to start reading the books I think! x

SirenaBlusera agony auntSamantha:

I "blame" a friend who was even more obsessed at the time. I can't wait to go see the Half-Blood Prince in theatres. Maybe you would enjoy the stories. :)

I enjoy the movies, but I think they leave a lot out; the books are more complete!

SirenaBlusera agony aunt"Sings a different [song] every year. It's got to be a pretty boring life, hasn't it, being a hat? I suppose it spends all year making up the next one."

Hey Samantha, I think that the Sorting Hat answers your question better than I could:

Oh you may not think me pretty,

But don't judge on what you see,

I'll eat myself if you can find

A smarter hat than me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can cap them all.

There's nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can't see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

if you've a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You'll make your real friends,

Those cunning folks use any means

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don't be afraid!

And don't get in a flap!

You're in safe hands (though I have none)

For I'm a Thinking Cap!

Ravenclaw students tend to be intellectually very smart, witty, and bright... congrats!

Thanks for sharing the website! I don't know anything about Harry Potter (sorry!) but I did the test anyway. It said I am a Ravenclaw. I have no idea what that means, but the score for that one was very high. And you know what? The little description did sound like me!

Thanks again! x
