Am I too tight? Do I have a problem?

This is incredibly embarrassing, so this question is for girls and doctors only!

The problem is that I'm a bit 'tight' if you know what I mean... I find it incredibly painful just to insert a tampon, it has put me off masturbating, and I'm dreading first time sex as I fear it will be excruciating!

What can I do to make tampon insertion easier (it's really impractical having to use pads all the time!)And how can I prevent it from hurting in first time sex?

girl i feel your pain. i have he same problem. while you are masturbating start off slow, start with one finger... than two... than three... and so on until it starts to hurt badly. mark that number down and the next day try it again and ee if you get more. eventually you will be looser and everything will be more comfortable for you. hope this helps and everything works out!

This is verified as being by the original poster of the question

Well I went to the nurse and she had a little look around and stuck a cotton bud in and it felt kinda weird but not too bad and she advised I took some time to 'get to know myself.' So I took her advise and had a bit of a feel while I was in the bath and I managed to get my little finger in with barely any pain or discomfort! I found that unlike what it tells you in diagrams, and unlike my mum who is very 'slanty', I go almost straight up, which is where I think I was going wrong. My period came on this morning and I managed to use tampons successfully now I knew where I was going and I wasn't dry down there. I even wore one to a dance class and I could barely feel a thing! I actually forgot I was wearing it!

Thanks for the advise guys xXx

lovehate agony auntIf you are really unhappy and worried about the situation go to the doctor and they can put your mind at rest. Sex for the first time is painful, i aint gunna lie to ya!! But you are not alone.

Tampon wise... maybe you are tense and just not used to them yet. RELAX when you insert them this makes it much easier and less painful. Lots and lots of people use mini tampons, try them! Don't panic!

All the best. : )

I've heard a lot of people say the same. Try to use the mini tampons first, it gets easier with practice and it also helps to be as relaxed as possible. If there is still problem after a while, visit your doctor, they'll have seen the same problem a million times so dont be embarrassed. Same with sex, it can be painful at first but gets easier and less painful with time.

Dont worry this is a common problem and your doctor will be able to advise you well.
