Am I just over thinking this?

A male United States age 26-29, * love TDG writes:

Hi everyone, I just transfered to a new school. It's kind of strange since it's junior year and all, but whatever. Anyway, I've made some new friends and stuff which is cool. And yesterday (first day) at lunch, I'd got my food and sat down at an empty table. Then, this group of kids had sent a very good-looking guy over to invite me to sit with them. He came up to me and said:

"Hey, those girls told me to come get you to sit with them. I was kind of teasing them on wanting the cute new kid to come sit with them, haha."

After he said that the rest of the conversation was kind of pointless, we introduced eachother and shook hands and went on our ways.

Anyway, that statement is really bothering me. Did he, in a way, say I was cute? I don't want to just walk up and start talking to him and say something really stupid.

1.) I'm not sure if he's gay, but I kind of thought it was a strange thing to say for a "straight guy".

2.) I'm not out, and not exactly the stereotypical gay guy where everyone knows already even if you're out or not.

Am I over-thinking this? Or do you I have a shot?

P.S. I didn't really think anything of that comment until about an hour later, or I would have said something.

I love TDG agony auntWell, I'm just going to try and get some info about him from some of my friends. But the only gay thing about him is his voice, it's not that gay, just the tone of voice he uses sometimes*, and he uses a lot of verbal fillers such as: like, um, yeah, ect. Oh, and I've seen him hanging around some guys that are obviously gay, just talking as friends though.

You have to watch his gestures, the way he moves, the way he talks. if you definitely think hes straight, then maybe you should keep trying to get info. if you think hes gay, or not sure, ask the girls he was with! or ask him. like "i dont mean to be rude & i apologize for askin, but are youuuuu??? gay??"

How does everyone think he's reading in too much? A man walked up to him and said he wanted to invite him to come sit at his table because he's cute. He made it clear he was gay and thinks the kid is cute. Plus he is sitting with a bunch of girls? Sounds like the typical gay kid.

I agree it sounds a little odd, and does seem like he was trying to say you were cute, but I would see if you can try and talk to him a few more times and see if you can get any more clues from his conversation first to be sure.

Over thinking, 100%. I mean I see where you are coming from and you do have some interesting points but they don't rly accomplish a whole lot right now. At the very core, you were the new guy so awkwardness is expected on either side.
