Am I doing things right after the break up?

Me and my boyfriend broke up a few days ago. At first I was writing him facebook messages, only 3 saying how I felt and I needed separation. Since that day I havnt been talking to him. I've been trying to get out of the house so I wouldn't think about him because I miss him. I also been texting this other guy and lifes been great. Going to work and living my life. Sure I'm thinking about him still but not so bad because other men want me but I can't give them a chance because I always get into a relationship with a guy who I don't really know and he doesn't have his license so he can't drive to see me. Am i doing things right after the break up? was i wrong to send messages, im afraid i was to needy after.
