Question - (12 December 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 12 December 2008)
A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I have this ex "boyfriend" who I was with for 6 months on and off but officially for a week because he had commitment issues. He broke up with me and said that he didnt want a girlfriend right now but still insisted on remaining friends and said that he didnt want to lose me. I said that we could give it a try but when he came over, he was acting like my boyfriend again, holding my hand and etc. I asked him what that was supposed to mean and he said that he wasnt making a move on me, he was just showing how much he missed me. He made plans for us to go on a date but I didnt hear from him in 2 weeks. He would make false promises and break plans a lot when we were together too, and I told him to not make any false promises anymore and when he did once again, that was the final straw. He texted me a week ago and asked if he could come over because he was by my house but I said I was busy. He called me again but I didnt answer or call back. It only seems that he calls me when he has nothing to do. I still have strong feelings for him but I want to be done with him. Am I doing the right thing by ignoring him or do I owe him an explanation and I should just tell him how I feel? I feel like if I do talk to him, he will sweet talk his way out once again and this whole cycle will start all over again.

I did the same thing to my boyfriend. I only treat him nice when i realize that i might lose him. The big cycle - i behave badly & don't treat him well, he gets upset & angry, wants to leave, then i would ask him to forgive me & do nice things for him, etc. to get him back. The cycle went over and over again for the last 15 months and he couldn't take it anymore lately.

This guy doesn't care about you and is not serious at all. He is taking advantage of your kindness. Moreover, he knows that you have feelings for him and you like him, which will make it easier for him to get you back. Overall, you will get hurt more if you stay with him.

Well,You are doing the right thing by ignoring him.
