Hi all,

I'm needing a little advice before I go to the doctor. I'd say it has been about 2 years now that I have been taking Sudafed Nasal Spray. I take it at least once every week and sometimes as much as 4 times a week. I take it before I go to bed as my nose gets so stuffy and I know the reason why. I know all about Sudafed and the "rebound" effect which means that once it wears off it makes my nasal canals swell. What I need to know is how bad do you think the damage is? What should I expect from the doctor? At the moment as I type this I'd say my nasal canals are half clear as I am able to breathe through them but not completely comfortably. I am expecting the worst as I have taken it for so long and I'm pretty scared to go in case I need surgery for nasal polyps or something. Anyone else ever been in my situation and taken this nasal spray for so long?

BusDriver agony auntSudafed 1-4 doses a week? Last time I checked, rebound effect is usually a result of OVERuse. 1-4 doses may make you a semi-regular user of sudafed, but certainly not an overuser - talk to you dr about your nasal passages becoming blocked every night. Find out the cause - I seriously doubt that it is rebound effect. It may be something as simple as changing your pillow! Dust mites can cause nasal passages to swell also. Good Luck -
