BlondeBabe x agony auntNatural products may help such as witch hazel and tea tree but there is always a chance they won't work. My best advice would go to the doctor and they can give you something that has a better change of working. I did this and my skin is now completely clear.

Midge agony auntYeah a very common problem. When I moved country from South Africa to the UK, my skin broke out. I was still young at that time and when I went to the doctor I was told that I should give it a few years and it will get better. Well I wanted a remedy NOW, not tomorrow or next year, NOW!!

Speaking to my mom about it, she told me about what they did as kids to get good, healthy skin when they had acne. Very simple and I still use it to this day.

Once a week I, (1) wash my face with clearasil facewash. (2) Without drying the face, take ordinary household tablesalt and rub it into the skin. (You will notice the skin will feel a little tighter. (3) Once you have rubbed it into the skin, wash it off with water and dry the skin. The skin will feel much smoother and within a few weeks, the skin will clear up.

Its not full proof, but I use it still. I am 35 years old, and am told I look like I am in my early 20's. No-one believes my age.

Its cheap and you will be loosing nothing by trying it. I hope it helps you! Let us know if you try it and if it works!

Duckyhelp agony auntAt your age you will get many more spots, some at more times than others, but the "scaring" will go away. Usualy it is best to avoid popping them inless they are big and pussy. Cause if you pop it when its not ready. then thats when it scars.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (6 August 2010):

DrPsych agony auntUnfortunately it is just a side-effect of puberty. There are lots of things you shouldn't do. Firstly, don't use scented products (soaps etc) or any of those teenage pimple lotions and potions that are marketed. Most of them don't work and they can make you itchy. Don't squeeze any of your pimples as it encourages long-term scars. Take a good quality zinc supplement as this aids skin healing. If it is really bad, see your doctor who may prescribe the contraceptive pill (which works if the cause of your acne is hormonal) or refer you to a skin specialist. Take a honest look at your diet and increase fresh fruit and veg, while reducing the junk food. Wash your skin daily with care and try using a facial steam machine to open your pours (many people seem to find this helpful for reducing the infected acne tissue). If you find that you have permanent scar tissue after puberty, you can get help from a laser specialist who can work wonders. I would say that if your pimples are just on your forehead, try changing your shampoo products and pin your hair back to your head when you sleep. It may not be acne, but pimples caused by an allergic reaction to a product you use on your hair (which may fall on your skin as it breaks down).

Zap-it by Melaleuca (check online) has been very helpful for me. Also, consider seeing a dermatologist.
