hi everyone

i am 17 and i have red spots all over my face, neck and a few on the top of my back. I have used clearasil but that hasn't worked at all. i have used oxy which hasn't worked and i am currently using a supermarkets own which definately doesn't work. i have tried just washing my face regularly daily but that hasn't worked either. i have looked all over the internet for tips but none of them have worked. i really want to get rid of these spots as quickly and as cheaply (i don't have much money) as possible because i have no self confidence because of it and i become very shy because of my spots.

if anyone has any advice about this please share and also please tell me how long your treatment took to get rid of your spots. thank you

i also have trouble with pubic hair. i want to get rid of it because i feel much cleaner without it but i have stopped shaving because it itches like crazy. to stop the itching i hear rubbing conditioner helps but it doesn't and its the same with bum and armpit hair as well.

if anyone has any advice about this please share once again. thank you

please help me with either problems. i will try anything as long as its safe and i will not judge anyone with any answers that may seem silly to them

thank you all

Try Pro-Activ, which is still over the counter - for your acne problem.

If it's still bad see a dermatologist for prescription acne cream.

The itch goes away eventually. Everyone gets itchy when they shave their head for the first time, or down in the pubic area for the first time.

mdrnctrygrl agony auntWhen I was younger I had the same problem. Try taking zinc, and I also would rub vitamin e capsules on my face. You really have to watch what you eat also, diet plays a big role. Drink lots of water!!!!

Hi, I am someone who know aaalll about the acne problem. I am 20 yrs old and have been suffering from pimples since I was 14 years old. I wanted to clear it up just like you, so at 16 yrs I started using proactive.... worst bloody mistake of my life!!! Be very careful with what you are putting on your skin. Products with Benzoyl Peroxide in them may work in the short run but I can tell you that I sustained some long term damage from using it. A lot of acne products over exfoliate the skin (this happened to me and I actually started to scar from my pimples so now my face has craters). If u choose to see a doctor/ dermatologist learn about any products they give you because a lot of the time you will become reliant on the medication they give, and over time your pimples will become resistant to it. I currently use Mario badescu products, I find them quite gentle and they do the job. You might want every singel pimple gone right now, but seriously don't expect miracles. Get it under control and just think of the future. Don't put ur skin under too much trauma now with different products. Soory to rant like this but I just wanted to help some one, stop them going through the pain Im going through. Cheers :-)

I had the same problem as a kid regarding acne. My acne was probably one of the worst cases you would have ever seen. I tried oil of olay. I tried clearasil. I tried rubbing alcohol. Too much alcohol actually made it much much worse!!!!

The only thing that helped me was going on antibiotics such as tetracycline. That worked after 2 months but then came back. Then I went on accutaine for 1.5 years. That stuff worked real well, so well in fact the acne never came back. But the side effects nearly killed me.

I heard proactive works. Try that.

I had what was diagnosed as acne all throughout my teens and early twenties, It wasn't until a few years ago that I accidentally discovered that it wasn't acne at all, I was actually suffering from allergies to SLS and perfumes. All sorts set it off still, its so hard to find products that don't cause me to break out. This may be what you are suffering with.

However, If it is acne, I would suggest investing in a good quality three step skincare routine. They are quite expensive, but it is worth it for something that makes you feel more confident. If you cant afford them all in one go, then buy one part at a timeor look on ebay for a bargain.

You normally get "gift time" offers on these products so you actually end up with a whole years supply for not very much.

Exfoliation is very effective in preventing spots and making sure you use a moisturiser that is non comedogenic (wont block your pores, resist the urge to pick and only squeeze with cotton buds when the spot is ready to reduce bruising and risk of further infection.

As with the irritation from shaving, the only thing I can suggest is try a different method of hair removal on your body ie waxing or try shaving with baby oil instead of hair conditioner, and try a razor that doesn't have lube strips as sensitivity to this causes irritation.

A female reader, Duckyhelp United Kingdom +, writes (7 November 2010):

Duckyhelp agony auntfor spots i use PanOxyl which you get over the counter and i have been using it for years. The worst of my spots go away in a week at max. Making sure to use daily scrubs and a facemask twice a week helps clean the dirt trapped in your pores and makes your skin feel softer too.

I hope this helped x

my grandma taught me this, and it cleared my face over night... use olay bar soap morning and night, then at night after you wash your face, put green rubbing alcohol on with a q-tip, only on the pimpes tho. this method worked for me, hopefully youll find that it works for you too.. for razor burn/ itching, its expensive, for being deoderant anyways, its 10 bucks, its female deoderant its that clinical stuff, i think secret makes it but i cant remimber, but its the most expensive kind at the store, and it does say clincal on it so you cant miss it. i used to dance, and the girls used it on there privates and it gave them all instant relief, you also might want to try a better razor, cause dull razors can give you rashes down there real bad.

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 November 2010):

i think your skin is already at the point where you need to make an appointment with the Doctor. Dont be embarassed, the Doctor deals with far worse problems daily. A daily shower with warm water is essential to stop bacteria build up on your irritated skin. I once had a similar issue to you and i had to sit daily in a warm bath with a product called PineTarsil. It was welcome relief to relieve the pain i was in. Eventually i was able to shower using the product when the inflamation lessened. PineTarsil is a Chemist only product called. This product could help make you skin less itchy. Do not use soap on skin already irritated as can make your skin worse. Dont shave down there, the skin down there is so sensitive and shaving could result in ingrown hairs. If you get ingrown hairs they can get infected and very painful.

A female reader, DrPsych United Kingdom +, writes (7 November 2010):

DrPsych agony auntHello, I recommend that you get a facial steam spa. They are fairly cheap in the shops. For many people with acne, steaming the skin daily helps a great deal with the skin disorder by opening the pores. You should also consider looking at your diet which can be a contributory factor. Cut out any junk food and take an over-the-counter fish oil and zinc supplement daily (this helps skin healing). Fruit and vegetable intake should be thought about as you need vitamin C, B & E for happy skin! Many young people have trouble with acne so take heart, you are not alone. It should clear up as you leave adolescence. However, if you are still having problems with it in adult life then you can get professional help. There are various treatments that have been proven to be clinically effective including laser therapy to deal with any scar tissue.

A reader, anonymous, writes (7 November 2010):

With regards to your spots, you might have sensitive skin so using clearasil could actually make the problem worse. Avoid products with alcohol in as this will dry out your skin and make your skin worse. With reagrds to the spots on your body you should use a body scrub a few times a week and make sure that you are washing your back properly because the pores can get clogged with dirt and cause spots.

If nothing works then i suggest you go to see your doctor because they can give you treatment if it's really bad.
